Older People
Artlink, Balor DCA and Voice of Older People have liased together to create a piolet programme working with older people in drama and the visual arts. If it is successful we hope to extend the programme and roll it out all over Donegal.
Creative Aging
The programme process of Creative Aging is much tailored to the specific group – their needs and physical and cognitive abilities. A range of ‘themes’ will be explored where different groups may decide to focus on differing themes. The objective of the programme is to develop the confidence of the participants in their ability to creatively engage by challenging them to reach their creative and participative potential through having fun and sharing laughter in an arts environment.
Picture Perfect
The concept is to engage the young people of Inishowen with their older community members so that a better understanding of each others lives and interests will enable a deeper respect and appreciation within the community. The older people will take on the leadership role by sharing their knowledge of the local area, thus educating the young people on the history of their townland. The young people will learn about the history of the location and the fashion, games and interests of the youth of that time.
Picture Perfect will re-create a snapshot of the past by engaging older people from various social groups and day care centres to interact with the youth in their community, which will enable a better understanding and knowledge of each others lives and interests. The result will be a printed postcard of various older peoples memories from the local area. Both groups will learn the skills needed to create a photoshoot – costume, props, directing, acting, lighting, photography, editing and print production.
