Buncrana Goes Pop Children’s Art Festival ran from Monday 14th to Friday 18th July 2008. Children aged 7 – 12 years of age, participated in a combined programme of art, music making and drama workshops. The festival educated the children about the 20th Century movement entitled Pop Art.
Pop Art is a loud and colourful artform and set the context for a fun and energy packed creative week for all the local children. Artlink works with professional artists of the highest calibre who have the ability and skill to stimulate the imaginations of all age groups.
The workshops enabled the children to create works, which were exhibited and performed at the finale party on Friday 18th July, the final day of the project.
The gardens of Tullyarvan Mill came alive with Artlink’s first garden party, performers, artists, puppets, face painters, music and refreshments created the atmosphere for the children to showcase their completed works. Also attending the event were the families and friends of the participants, and members of the local community also enjoyed the first big children’s festival to have taken place under the guidance of Artlink’s new director, Elaine Forde.
